I want to talk about the lodge and masonic etiquette. When you come to lodge or visit a lodge you are representing your lodge and yourself. I will be giving masonic education at our next stated meeting regarding Etiquette in the lodge. Here is an excerpt from the Grand Lodge Masonic Etiquette Booklet about cloths:
“There is a philosophy in dress as in so many other things, and the dress proper to Masonic occasion is no exception. Its principle is good taste; its practice is to wear such attire as shows respect to the Brotherhood and expresses the dignity of Masonry.”
When we enter the building, we should strive to put our best foot forward because we have people looking at us. From the new petitioner to the Most Worshipful Grand Master, they are all watching us and looking to see what we will do and most importantly what we will become.
I look forward to seeing everyone July 3rd afternoon at Valentine Park (in Orange City) for the fireworks festival. We are setting up a tent with all our regalia on display. Child ID will be set up as well if you want to get your children and grand children recorded. I would like to make sure you know that all 16 cameras have been installed around the Lodge. This will improve our security greatly. I hope that everyone comes to Lodge this month.

Here we are more then halfway through the year and a lot has been done, but seems like so much more needs to be accomplished. Let us not forget about our 1st Annual Smoked Pork Butt BBQ fundraiser! All proceeds go to the costs of a new roof on our magnificent Lodge. Also, our fun-loving SW has done all the work for us to be set up for the fireworks festival on Saturday July 3rd at Valentine Park. We will have a tent regalia and Child ID. Lets have a large showing of Masons and family. Let us show the community who we are and what we do. Our communities need us more then ever to show not only are we strong committed men that truly try to live up to a higher standard that is Masonry, but we are also strong and stand a strong knit family and community presences. Not just with other Masons but for all.
Whew where that come from? I feel now would be a good time to mention that we need more participation in committees new and old. I know we want St. John’s to grow and be able to have a positive impact on the community, and fun even amongst ourselves with events like family fun night etc at the Lodge. So in wanting to do more stuff like this also I would like to put out a request for help. Take the lead on a project or event. As your JW I do not have to be the lead. I need to know about it, its progress, worries, concerns and just over see it from afar if needed. So, lets get those events/programs going and show the community how Masons take care of one another.
Equivocation- The obligations of Masonry are required to be taken without evasion, equivocation, or mental reservation of any kind; and properly so, because the covenant or contract is in the nature of a promise made to the Fraternity the obligate is about to enter. Evasion is eluding or avoiding the terms of the promise; equivocation is assigning different meanings of the words of the Obligtn.; and mental reservation consists of a secret contract to misconstrue the letter of the O.B., so as to defeat its spirit. It is well known the casuists of the Jesuit schools lay down a very different doctrine.
