I would like to thank everyone who came out to the Fireworks and Fun event at Valentine Park in Orange City. Everyone who came out had a great time and we hope to see you all at future events. We have had numerous calls, visits and even a couple applications from this event so I consider it a huge success, in addition to the bonding and brotherhood that being among fellow Masons always brings. We have had many brothers sick, on vacation, or otherwise unable to come to the last few stated meetings. If you missed Stated Communication, you will be happy to know that we now have full coverage insurance on the Lodge now. Even though it was a bit expensive we are covered even for named storms. We are looking at ways for what we can do to help lower the cost and we will keep the craft updated.
I would like to have everyone at St. Johns’ to start working on getting their Masonic Education. Master Mason I,II,III are online and can be done any time. Masonic Leadership Training is 15 modules that are set up to get 5 modules at a time at New Smyrna Lodge or Landmark. That schedule has been posted on our FaceBook page or ask any officer. For those that have already completed these, please continue to educate yourself in masonry by working on the Lodge Officer Training.
Last and not least I would like to recognize our new EA Brother Mel Rollins. Mel you are an excellent example of how we all need to what we can to make our home, our Lodge shine as bright as the Masons and their families within it. Thank you for your volunteer work at the Lodge and the new flag - looks beautiful.

The Priests of Sol (Committee on Solar Power) have been working hard on their task. They have a few more things they want to investigate and then the committee (Priests) will be ready to give a full report to the craft. The Car and Cycle Show (Hiram-fest) is planned for Dec 2nd. Del Clark is the primary point of contact for this committee. Further information to come. I want to say how great it is to be sitting at the helm of St. Johns Lodge. The dedication our Brothers have, not only to our Lodge but to each other outside those walls make it easy to believe not only there is people in this crazy world that try to do the right thing for themselves and family but also for others. Yes, those others do become family. But we all are on the lookout to expand that to others. Bring them in, let them see, let their light refuel in a place of refuge then, to be able to go out and do more right things to help someone I personally would never have met. What more could a charitable introvert want. All of you help remind me I am never truly alone. I know all of you understand how strong of a statement that is. Thank you all my Brothers.
PS - Remember to dress accordingly as we have the Right Worshipful DDGM Rodney Gray and some of the committeemen visiting our Lodge on August 8th.

The Masonic brotherhood is considered important for several reasons, as it holds significant meaning and value for its members. Here are some of the key aspects that contribute to its importance:
-
Fraternity and Camaraderie: Masonic brotherhood fosters a strong sense of fraternity and camaraderie among its members. It provides a supportive and inclusive environment where individuals from diverse backgrounds can come together, form lasting friendships, and support one another through life's challenges.
-
Moral and Ethical Development: Freemasonry emphasizes moral and ethical principles, encouraging its members to strive for personal growth and improvement. It promotes virtues such as integrity, honesty, compassion, and charity, aiming to help individuals become better versions of themselves.
-
Philanthropy and Charity: Masonic lodges are known for their philanthropic endeavors and charitable activities. Members often engage in community service and contribute to various charitable causes, making a positive impact on society. At Str John's we give a lot to the Deland community and people often comment that is how they know us.
-
Intellectual and Philosophical Exploration: Freemasonry encourages intellectual curiosity and philosophical discussions. Through symbolic teachings and rituals, members are encouraged to explore deep philosophical questions and engage in thoughtful contemplation.
-
Symbolism and Tradition: The Masonic brotherhood is steeped in symbolism and ancient traditions. These symbols and rituals provide a sense of continuity with the past and create a unique and meaningful experience for members.
-
Brotherhood Across Borders: Masonic brotherhood is global, transcending national, racial, and religious boundaries. It offers a platform for individuals from different countries and cultures to connect and find common ground through shared values. Once you hit Master Mason and start travelling- even to other Lodges in the state and out of the state, this really becomes significant.
-
Personal Development and Leadership: Many Masonic lodges provide opportunities for leadership development. Through various roles and responsibilities within the organization, members can develop leadership skills and contribute to the betterment of their lodges and communities.
-
Secrecy and Privacy: While some aspects of Freemasonry are secretive, the practice of confidentiality within the brotherhood creates a safe space for members to share their thoughts and concerns without fear of judgment or external interference.
It is essential to note that the significance of Masonic brotherhood can vary among individuals. Some people find deep personal meaning and purpose in their Masonic journey, while others may not find it as impactful. Joining any fraternal organization, including Freemasonry, is a personal choice, and individuals may choose to become members based on their individual values, beliefs, and aspirations. The people beside is at St. Johns are our Brothers because they chose to be. When I call you Brother, I do not take that lightly.
May Brotherly love prevail, and every moral and social virtue cement us! Greetings From the West!
Hello brethren, We are half way through another great year. Thank you to everyone that showed up to the Orange City fireworks festival. It was great. Now that we are on the downslope of the year I hope we don’t lose traction nor waiver from our goals. We need help leading and supporting this lodge. I wish everyone a safe summer and remember stay Hydrated and eat plenty of salt if you’re outside in the heat. W. Christopher C Franklin J.P.M J.W. Protempt

From the Secretary's Desk:
I am so grateful to be in a Lodge that takes the words of our obligations and our charges to heart. Time and time again, I have seen brotherly love expressed and shown not only to myself, but to everyone through a quick phone call, a check-in to see how someone is doing and most of all, an offer and willingness to help and be there for each other.
For those of you unaware, I have been going through a family matter which has required much of my time and attention and I am grateful for those that took action where needed in my absence. Moreso, I am grateful for the outreach and love shown to me during this difficult time. I truly think that the men who I am in Lodge with are some of the best people I have ever known. I have always believed in the adage about Iron sharpens Iron and feel that I am becoming a better version of myself by being around good men in our Lodge.
