Looks like May is already here. Even though time is flying by, we as a Lodge is accomplishing a lot. First, I would ask you to help welcome in 2 new brothers May 13 @ Landmark Lodge. It will be a busy day because they are going to put on the Degree 2 times back-to-back to help accommodate the number of candidates needed to go through. I am sure they could use help with something so please reach out to Landmark Lodge or one of your Officers if you are available and would like to be part of this experience. Next, I would like to thank everyone who was able to show up for the sign variance hearing, I truly do not feel we would have won the variance if our members were not in attendance. The downside to winning is, there is several things with the Cell Tower that needs to be corrected, and we will not be able to get a building permit for anything until they are corrected. If you would like to see more information, please contact me or our overworked sectary. The Priests of Sol (Committee on Solar Power) have been working hard on their task. They have a few more things they want to investigate and then the committee (Priests) will be ready to give a full report to the craft. The Priest of Smoking Car Show. (Just made that up, does it show?) This committee will be put together this month. Of course, our SW is the head of events. But since we decided to combine the smoker cookout event and the car show. I decided that there will be at least 1 sub-committee to help this event to be spectacular. The SW and head of the sub committee will be making announcements soon. I also feel I need to say how great it is to be sitting at the helm of St. Johns Lodge. The dedication our Brothers have, not only to our Lodge but to each other outside those walls make it easy to believe not only there is people in this crazy world that try to do the right thing for themselves and family but also for others. Yes, those others do become family. But we all are on the lookout to expand that to others. Bring them in, let them see, let their light refuel in a place of refuge then, to be able to go out and do more right things to help someone I personally would never have met. What more could a charitable introvert want. All of you help remind me I am never truly alone. I know all of you understand how strong of a statement that is. Thank you all my Brothers.

Freemasonry places a strong emphasis on brotherly love, which is the affection and kindness that Masons are encouraged to show to one another. This principle is considered to be one of the three main tenets of Freemasonry, alongside truth and relief.
The idea of brotherly love in Freemasonry goes beyond just being friendly or courteous to fellow Masons. It involves a deep sense of respect, care, and support for one another, regardless of differences in background, beliefs, or social status. By exemplifying brotherly love in their interactions with one another, Masons aim to set an example for others in their communities and demonstrate how people from all walks of life can come together in mutual respect and harmony.
Ultimately, the goal of Freemasonry is to promote the betterment of humanity, and by embodying the principle of brotherly love, Masons can contribute to creating a more caring, compassionate, and harmonious society.
May Brotherly love prevail, and every moral and social virtue cement us! Greetings From the West!

Hello brethren, Four months into this great year and we are coming right along with everything. Rainbow has done a fantastic job thus far helping to feed the craft. Please come by and support them. Grand Lodge will be held at the Rosen Plaza in Orlando on May 29 th -31 st. I look forward to having some fellowship with everyone there. Please put on your schedule, July 1 st 3pm-10pm, Valentine Park Orange City. W. Schmidt, myself, and whoever else shows up will have a table set up at the fireworks festival like we do each year. Safe Travels W. Christopher C. Franklin J.P.M. 2022 J.W. Pro tempt.

From the Secretary's Desk:
I am so grateful to be in a Lodge that takes the words of our obligations and our charges to heart. Time and time again, I have seen brotherly love expressed and shown not only to myself, but to everyone through a quick phone call, a check-in to see how someone is doing and most of all, an offer and willingness to help and be there for each other.
Jacob (Jake) Vogel and Melvin (Mel) Rollins are part of the EA ceremony on May 13th at landmark Lodge. Come show your support. A special thanks to Landmark for running the courtesy degree and they are doing not just one, but 2, back to back!! If you are interested in going, carpooling or even conducting, please contact me directly for details. 407-227-0741 (roberturban78@gmail.com)

Recently, Brothers' Carnahan, Clark, Junk and myself joined WM DiCaprio in a city council meeting for the approval of a variance for the sign project. We all went in there with the firm belief that it would be denied because the committee that reviewed it expressly told me that they were going to recommend denial based on numerous things (construction too close to a residence, not far enough from a road etc.) Without almost any discussion, it passed unanimously. I firmly believe this passing was helped by the reputation of our order and specifically by influential people that are our friends in the community, or are Masons themselves that know what kind of men we are.
Remember we are ambassadors of our Lodge and the only Mason that someone may know. Carry yourself in a manner that honors that responsibility.
I found this following tidbit interesting while recently reading the book: Born in Blood: The Lost Secrets of Freemasonry and it stated "Masonic symbols are usually regarded as existing because of the fraternity’s secrecy. While there are elements of accuracy in that, the larger reason Freemasonry started being illustrated by symbols is because at the very beginning many Freemasons could not read, so the symbols served to remind members of the fraternity’s teachings."
Brent Morris, a respected Masonic historian, and 33rd° Scottish Rite states "Masonry began as a guild for stone masons who built the castles and cathedrals of Medieval Europe. If you were a baker, a miller, a brewer, you could spend your entire life in one village practicing your trade. If you are a mason, after they repair the church or build the town hall, there might not be any mason work in that town for decades, so you had to move to another jobsite. Now, you're illiterate; the officers of the lodge are probably illiterate. So that's why they believe the Masons' word came into effect. It allowed the craftspeople to move from one jobsite to another and identify themselves as being part of the trade union. We have evidence in Scotland going back to the early 1600s that the Masons' word existed, and that was how you as a Mason in Edinburgh could identify yourself to a Mason in Lancashire that you were a member of the guild and could have work."
