Hello Brethren, Wow, February Trestle board already! First, I would like to thank everyone for their support. If we all maintain our enthusiasm, this will be an extraordinary year for you all. It may be “my year”. But it is your Lodge and should be joyous for us all when we are here (at lodge). We hit the ground running at our first meeting. I brought up the idea of solar power for the lodge and there was a lot of positive input. Since there was such a great response, I am proud to have a Solar Power Committee. R.W. David Evans (Chairman), W. Drew Helsteh, and W. Harvey King. If anyone wishes to help this committee, please let one of the above committee men know and they can let you know what you can help with. Remember St. Johns is your Lodge, your Home. Let’s do what we can to keep it picked up clean and in good repair. Let’s show all visitors the Pride we have in our Lodge and ourselves by the cleanliness of our dwelling. ~~For Christmas one of my daughters gave me a Masonic forget me not (yes the flower) tie pin. So as I was admiring it. I thought It would be a good topic to write about because one it can be written in short. And 2 it gives a little history and symbolism. In 1933 Nazi Germany targeted Freemasons for criminal prosecution and exclusion from society. As one could guess being a Freemason could be troublesome then. But you cannot keep a good Mason down. As a result, in 1934 members of the Grand Lodge of the sun began wearing the blue forget-me-not instead of the square and compasses on their lapels as a secret mark of identity. here is an excerpt from a blog from The Grand Lodge of Ohio: In 1934, members of one of Germany’s pre-war Grand Lodges, Grand Lodge of the Sun, began wearing the blue forget-me-not instead of the square and compasses on their lapels as a secret mark of identity. The “forget-me-not” is the informal name for the Myosotis flower, known for being small and having blue or purple petals. Throughout this whole era, these flowers appeared on lapels across cities and even concentration camps, worn by brothers whose love for the craft remained strong, even through the worst times. In 1947, when the Grand Lodge of the Sun was reopened, a pin in the shape of a forget-me-not was adopted as an emblem of that first convention by those who survived the Nazi era. It then was also adopted as an official Masonic emblem honoring those brothers who dared to wear the flower openly, and also recognizes the contributions of Masonic educators. And here’s the link to the full article: https://www.freemason.com/behind-masonic-symbols- forgetmenot/ Always, remember In the worst of times, when all looks dim; even a lil blue flower can have the power of an ancient brotherhood behind it assuming you have eyes to see. Hope to see you at Lodge, if not its me talking to myself.. which is fun, but…. Safe travels Brethren,

One year has ended and another one begins, many lessons learned, relatives and Freemason brothers who have left this world, leaving much pain in our hearts, but also many memorable moments, great satisfaction at having been able to help those in need, by improving ourselves in Freemasonry. and helping our brothers to do the same, by contributing with our best effort to be better parents, children, husbands, neighbors, better Masons, and therefore making a better community , a better Country, and a better world. I look back on the objectives we had and the satisfaction of seeing them achieved . At the beginning of the new one, I know that the road ahead will have many difficulties but also many achievements. I know that at the end of the year it will be satisfactory because, as always, our faith is well founded because we have placed our trust in God.

Hello brethren, January is over and all the Masters and officers of each Lodge in the district have been installed. Congratulations to all of them. I’m very excited about this year and everything that we are working on. Please come out and support St Johns Lodge and the Rainbow Girls. I look forward to seeing you there. Safe Travels W. Christopher C. Franklin J.P.M. 2022 J.W. Pro tempt.

From the Secretary's Desk:
|
It is truly exciting to see the number of men who wish to join others of like mind and of good character in our brotherhood. I challenge each of you to invite a worthy person that is not already a Mason to join us for dinner and fellowship at one of our stated communications.
|
As I embrace this new role of Secretary I am learning much more about the specific intricacies of our lodge. There are so many things that go on behind the scenes to make sure this continues to run like a well-oiled machine. I want to specifically thank the past Worshipful Secretary Mitch Franklin for so much of his time and knowledge he has given to me and continues to give to help me ramp up quickly in this role. I am grateful and consider myself lucky to have befriended so many people I now consider my brother in my journey through Masonry. As I review the membership lists, at least half of the names are men I have never met. Freemasonry is all about fellowship. I know many of these names no longer live here, however if you do and haven’t been to a meeting lately there are many brothers like myself who would be delighted to meet you. Don’t be a stranger!

The 3rd degree did not exist until the 1720’s. The Statue of Liberty was designed by Frederic Bartholdi, A Freemason and the Grand Lodge laid the cornerstone of its base with a Masonic Ritual. Buzz Aldrin and John Glenn astronauts were 33rd Degree Scottish Rite Freemasons
